365 Days of Photography - Day #126

The Lilac-Breasted Roller is an extremely common bird in the Kruger National Park and generally I just drive right past them without thinking twice. This is another example of one that I could not resist stopping for. The perfect blue-sky backdrop made for a really striking shot.

365 Days of Photography - Day #125

I took this photo of a small group of meerkats at the Johannesburg Zoo. I loved the way this shot came out. It was like a little family portrait.

365 Days of Photography - Day #124

I spent quite a lot of time on Clifton Beach in Cape Town one evening, experimenting with different settings, angles, compositions and exposures when trying to capture a sunset. I must have taken over a hundred images on the beach that day and here are my top three.

365 Days of Photography - Day #123

Crocodiles have always been exciting creatures to see on my visits to the game reserves and this was true, even at the zoo. This quickly became one of my favorite shots of the day from my visit to the Johannesburg Zoo because it reminded me of a lecturer or teacher addressing some students.

365 Days of Photography - Day #122

The Laughing Kookaburra is native to Australia and is the larger relative of the Blue Winged Kookaburra. It looks like a small bird in this photo but it’s actually about 45cm (18 in) in size.

365 Days of Photography - Day #121

I have seen many of these Kori Bustards in game reserves, especially in Botswana and Namibia and very seldom have I been able to get this close to one. My visit to the Johannesburg Zoo allowed me to snap this close up portrait of a Kori Bustard.
